August General Meeting

August General Meeting
8-8-2013 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
520 Elliot Street Charlotte NC, 28202

My fellow product developers (Inventors)

We will be having movie night for our next encounter at our 8-8-2013 general meeting. The film we will be watching will be a great refresher film for many and a great film for those new to the subject of invention.

This meeting will only be half priced because there is no live or Skype speaker. If any one wants to bring popcorn, be my guest.

Randy Landreneau made a film titled invention 101 which we will be showing. Many of his methods are simple and to the point when it comes to:

  • Avoiding Scams
  • His System of- Create/ Protect/ Profit
  • Patent Searches
  • Different Types Of Patents
  • Intellectual Property
  • Provisional Patents
  • Patenting
  • Licensing
  • Manufacturing

This film is has the patent data before the recent patent reform and there will be a discussion about the new patent laws after the film.

As usual at our meetings we will be networking amongst the group. What ever stage that your current project is in feel free to bring prototypes, finished products, sales sheets or anything else that you would like to get an opinion on from the group. Bring business cards and make connections. (keep in mind that showing somethings could compromise the protection of that project)

July General Meeting

July General Meeting
7-11-2013 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
520 Elliot Street Charlotte, NC 28202
This month we will learn about the resources our city has to offer that our tax dollars have already paid for. There are huge and great sources of data that can be used for the business of invention that you may never had realized!  I Invite you all and look forward to shaving you hands.

Mimi Curlee

Mimi Curlee goes after information and finds it. When someone needs demographics, or business listings, or articles about what’s been done and who does it, she is out to find the best resources possible. She’s been a Reference Librarian for 22 years and the Federal Documents Librarian for 15 of those at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. People use the library for everything from starting a business, to taking free computer classes, to reading about motivation and how great minds work. Being a native of Charlotte, Mimi wants this to be an educated, dynamic city with lots of growth….and she’s ready to help anyone find the information which will propel their success. After attending UNCC and then the University of South Carolina for her Masters in Library & Information Science, she’s been working and learning at the Main Library uptown.

Use Research Resources You’ve Already Paid For…Don’t Waste Them!

July 11, 2013 at the INOTC Meeting

  • Resources for Research
  • Articles from industry and trade groups – what are the trends, who’s doing what
  • Demographics and mapping – target your market, get statistics
  • Resources for Starting & Growing a Business
  • Company Directories – find customers, sales leads, suppliers
  • Books and Websites for Entrepreneurs

If you invent, you know research is important. These are databases you can use with your library card inside a library branch or at home…any time. Why not explore the resources your tax money is already paying for and eliminate the paid subscriptions and time-wasting “throw it out on the web” approach. Get good results for your research, learn more now.
