The future is hard to imagine, but just because it is, doesnt mean that we have an excuse not to embrace it. While 3D printing is still a very young technology, it has become a big factor in so many fields.

The November general meeting is happening on Nov. 10th. Mr. Heckman will be presenting to the INOTC about his experience in the 3D printing world.

Understanding how 3D printing effects your ability to build your prototypes is vital in the competitive business world this day in age and even more so in the future.

Jim Heckman is the Territory Manager – Additive Manufacturing for TriMech Solutions. Based in Charlotte, NC, Jim covers South Carolina and Western North Carolina.

Before joining TriMech he was in the printing industry for over 20 years. His roles included graphic design, account management, account implementation and sales of printed graphics. Jim served various roles between 2004-2014 for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers including chairman of the Safety Pictorial Review & Advisory Task Force which focused on creating an open source database of common safety pictorials. He also served as vice chairman of their annual Product Safety and Liability seminar. He is a 1993 graduate of Clarion University in Clarion, PA with a BS in Communications.

Additive Manufacturing Materials, Characteristics and Usages The presentation will focus on commonly used materials in the FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) and PolyJet additive manufacturing technologies. Jim will show material properties and best applications for materials such as ABS, ASA, Nylon12, PC, Ultem, Rigur, Tango and Vero. Attendees will learn how to differentiate between PolyJet and FDM materials and how to differentiate between basic and advanced Materials. A brief comparison of the two printing technologies will be shown as well.
